Our Patients
We've helped an incredible number of patients receive breast cancer care in the area.
I would not have had a mammogram, a breast exam or the breast MRI without this grant. I do not have health insurance and cannot afford to pay myself. I have a strong family history and worry about getting breast cancer. There have been times in this past year that I have not seen a doctor event though I needed to because I did not have insurance. I have a cousin that just died from breast cancer so I am scared it could be me next. I want to thank the Komen Foundation for providing the funding I needed to get the breast care I would not have gotten without their grant.

I would have received very large bills without this grant. My insurance would not cover the six-month follow-up mammogram that the radiologist was recommending. I was so grateful that Dr. Smania and her grant was able to cover it. I ended up needing a core biopsy, which fortunately was benign but I was very worried. Everything has fell into place so smoothly and the people in the clinic were wonderful and encouraging - very kind and helpful. It was most helpful getting all of the information I needed to ease my mind. They were so helpful in getting this visit set up for me. I would have been lost without their guidance. Julie was phenomenal helping me in the radiology department. This is a wonderful program.

I attended the Pink Impact Breast Cancer Symposium. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 so this event was especially helpful for me. It was very well organized. I have attended over 1000 workshops in my life and this is in top 10% for organization. I liked the disparities talk because I have never had exposure to this before. Dr. Bumpers did a wonderful job on this topic. The stress reduction talk was also very helpful. How to cook and eat deliciously was great and the samples tasted very good. I would definitely recommend this type of program to others. The program definitely met my expectations and I feel much more knowledgeable about the topics that were discussed. The speakers we clear and easy to understand. I hope there will be more events like this in the future.
